Lipstick tips:

How to apply lipstick?

1. First prime your lips with a good base of foundation and powder to remove all color from your lips.

2. Outline your lips with a lip pencil (the same shade or just a shade darker than your lipstick). Define the center curve on the upper lip first.

3. Continue the line of the upper lip, keeping your mouth closed and relaxed. Use short strokes, as they are easier than a continuous line.

4. On the lower lip, work form the center to the corners.

5. Work some lipstick into a brush and fill the outline of the lips. Work gradually towards the outline, don't cover it with a lipstick.

6. Open your mouth wide and brush the color into the corners, so that there are no unfinished edges.

7. Blot with a tissue paper and reapply just enough lipstick to give a shine to your lips.

What Lipstick color to pick?

Start with your skin tone to choose the best lip color for you.

Dark skin tones affords you the greatest flexibility. Almost every color will work well with your skin: reds, pastels and oranges along with plum seem to bring out the best in you. (Try Rubis, Mandarin and Rose de Provence).

If you have a medium skin tone almost all shades of red will look good on you. Mauves, sheer berry or red based browns will also make you happy. (Try Bois de Rose, Cornaline and Rouge Carmin).

If you have pale skin, the best for you are light corals, sheer pink, nude, and colors with underlying beige tones. (Try Fleuron, Lip Gloss and Airain).

If you find a color you like, but find it to be to bright, it can to toned down to just the right shade by adding lip gloss to the top layer.
